HIVnow Pride Campaign

AIDS Committee of Toronto

The AIDS Committee of Toronto (ACT) launched the HIVnow campaign in June 2015 to engage gay, bi, and queer men in meaningful discussions about the evolving reality of HIV in Toronto. This campaign strikes a balance between posing tough questions and providing straightforward answers, reflecting the significant advancements in HIV treatment and prevention.

The “Times Have Changed” campaign underscores that HIV/AIDS is no longer a death sentence, highlighting the progress made in medical research and treatment options. This project was one of my first and most significant client experiences after university, marking a key milestone in my career. Working closely with ACT, I contributed to the development of a diverse range of materials designed to effectively reach the community, including:

• Event Cards
• Stickers/Tattoos
• T-shirts
• Social Media Posts
• Condom Inserts
• Posters/Subway Ads
• Website

The original website, HIVnow.ca,  served as a comprehensive resource offering up-to-date information on critical topics such as PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis), the importance of maintaining an undetectable viral load, HIV testing guidelines, and the legal aspects surrounding HIV non-disclosure. Through these efforts, the campaign aimed to educate, reduce stigma, and foster a community where HIV is understood and managed with the knowledge and tools available today.

This project not only allowed me to apply my skills and knowledge in a real-world setting but also gave me the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on an important cause, shaping my career in the process.
